Timeless Arrangements Half Star Illusion Fold Card

Timeless Arrangements - Half Star Illusion Card

I made this card for my sweet mama for Mother's Day. I saw the half star illusion card on Pinterest and knew I had to make one using the brand new Timeless Arrangements bundle from Stampin' UP! There are several versions online, but I used the measurements from this post - Maria's Crafting Corner. I loved her use of gold to add that additional wow.

Tip: When using gold foil sheets as a layer, cut the embellishments for your card from the centre of your foil base to conserve paper. No one will know the difference once you glue your layers down!

I used a belly band to hold the card closed and added an extra piece of cardstock in the box to hold more flower pieces. I didn't have any matching Designer Series Paper, so I made my own by embossing the leaves in gold on the belly band and using embossing paste with a (retired) brick mask. Additional embossing on the inside panels with some sponged ink worked as well as patterned paper and added texture to the card.

I changed the measurements slightly so that the finished card could stand on its own (The inside panels are all the same height - 5.5"). The half star can be seen when looking from above. Pretty awesome, right?

Colours Used: Night of Navy, Garden Green, Misty Moonlight, Basic White, and Gold Foil Sheets

Thanks for stopping by. Happy Stampin'!

Honeybee Card Set

I was secretly hoping this bundle would carry into the new catalogue. This was the bundle I was planning to showcase in May before Covid changed my plans. As a result, I barely got a chance to play with it let alone create projects with my Stampin’ girls! I’ve been including “Club to Go” kits with orders that are picked up. These are the stepped up versions of May’s kit using odds and ends I had in my scrap room, as well as added sentiments. I still have a few kits left. Just place an order and request the May kit with your order and I’ll include it or send it to you. Each kit contains all the pieces (minus sentiments) to make 4 card fronts, as well as a PDF with instructions on how to cut a 6x6 “one sheet wonder” pieces of designer series paper to create your own cards.

Stampin' UP New Catalogue - Tasteful Touches

The new annual catalogue is here!! I have been enjoying the new In Good Taste Suite which features the Tasteful Touches bundle. Did you notice the woodgrain background? It's from the coordinating Designer Series Paper. This collection is perfect for collaging elements to make projects for all occasions. This card was part of a sketch challenge using this sketch:

Mojo Sketch #511 - Rocky Mountain Paper Crafts

Here's another card I made with the collection. I've always been drawn to art with a lot of texture, the type that screams touch the painting even when the signs say don't touch the painting. This paper collection was made for me!

Stampin' UP! So Hoppy Together

Sale-a-bration 2019 is coming to a close, so if you haven't had a chance to earn these cute froggies for free, order today! This card is called a "Wiper Card". I first made one years ago, but I've been inspired lately by pop up cards I've seen posted online lately. I had forgotten all about the technique, so I used the Splitcoaststampers Tutorial as a refresher. When you pull open the card, the frog pops up at the top. So cute!

Cardstock & Ink: Garden Green, Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black

Patterned Paper: Botanical Butterfly Patterned Paper

Stamps: So Hoppy For You

Dies: Botanical Bouquet, Layering Circles, Happy Birthday

Lovely Lipstick Foil Butterflies - Beauty Abounds!

Once again, it's been awhile and my blog has been sorely neglected. It's not that I don't make things. I just don't make things as often, and when I do, I don't find the time to take photos and post them. This week I am taking advantage of a week off work to spend a little time creating every day. Since I have time to create, I will make time to post too. Here's a simple start.
My daughter received a Christmas gift in the pink box. As I was about to recycle it, I decided to compare it to my cardstock to see whether or not it matched Stampin' UP! colours. Yes, I routinely refrain from throwing things away because I "might" make them into a project someday. It's a bad habit, but in this case I actually turned it into something. While it doesn't quite match the pinks in Stampin' UP!'s line of colours, it was a beautiful complement to the Lovely Lipstick Foil Sheets in the Sale-a-bration brochure. Paired with the absolutely gorgeous Beauty Abounds Bundle in the Occasions Catalogue, and the Botanical Butterfly Designer Series Paper in the Sale-a-bration brochure, the foil sheets add just the right amount of glam to something that would otherwise have been recycled!

Watercolor Wings Card Set

Wow - it's been a long time. Truthfully, I don't stamp as much as I used to. When I do, I do it for classes or clubs and rarely take the time to create for the simple act of creating and I seldom take the time to post what I have created when I do find those rare bursts of creativity. This project was inspired by the colour of the lantern and was a spin off of the card set that we made for our club meeting that month. I made a small card set to fit inside and added a candle for a complete gift set. I have a few more projects that need to be done this summer, so hopefully I'll find my mojo again. Until then, thanks for looking!

Pop Up Card Box for a Spring Birthday

I've been waiting for Spring for awhile now, but it seems like it will still be a bit of a wait. In the meantime, I will have to be content with playing with Spring colours and flower stamps. These Pop-Up Card boxes are everywhere now. Here's my first attempt.

Mother's Day Card & Gift Bag

I confess that I didn't love Bermuda Bay when it was part of the past in-color collection, and I didn't love Calypso Coral when it first came out, but I started playing with them together and I am now loving both colours! This set came about after I came home from a recent shopping trip with yet another bag from David's Tea. They look so much like gift bags, and I am a packrat by nature, so I hated to toss them into the recycle bin. This time I noticed that the bag was a very close match to Bermuda Bay, which is making a comeback with the new catalogue in June. I pulled a piece of cardstock and discovered they're an exact match! I covered the logo and created a card to match and voila - a perfect Mother's Day gift ensemble!

I also decided to play around with my Creped Filter Paper. Here's how to create the flowers:

  • Punch 4-5 flowers from the Blossom Punch
  • Colour the edges with a marker. I used Calypso Coral
  • Spray each until the colour starts to run and set aside to dry.
  • Stack the flowers and poke a brade through the centre.
  • Crumple the flowers and position petals into place.
To create the rhinestone brad I simply added rhinestones to a (retired) 5/8" brad - which are still available on the Clearance Rack.

Supplies
Stamps: Loving Thoughts, All Holidays (retired), Travel Journal Wheel, Secret Garden (leaves kissed with the oval from Oh Hello)

Cardstock & Ink: Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette

Accessories: Honeycomb Folder, Doily, Apothecary Framelits, Flower Trim, Creped Filter Paper, Vanilla Seam Binding, Scallop Punch, Basic Rhinestones

Finding My Mojo Again - Lady Bug Birthday Set

I needed a card and a gift this weekend for a little girl and had very little time to prepare. I've also neglected my stamping lately (as you can tell from the sporadic blog posts) and wasn't feeling very inspired. Thanks to a Mojo Monday Sketch and some online inspiration, I came up with this quick set and added an envelope with some money to the top note box. I cased a variety of sources for this project. The Treat Cup Card idea came from something I had seen from one of my upline's projects using a gummy worm and I had these Laura Secord Chocolates that I knew would be perfect for this card. The top note box came from a combination of several I had seen posted online. Unfortunately, we were running late so I barely had time to snap a couple of pictures, but they turned out okay and the birthday girl LOVED them!

It's been a long time since I've sat down to make a card for an occasion and I needed a little inspiration. This week's Mojo Monday sketch was just what I needed to get the juices flowing for my Mother's Day cards. I'm ashamed to say that I hadn't cut a single piece of my Beau Chateau paper yet and it's retiring at the end of this month! Check out the other retiring stamps and accessories.

Take it to Heart: Sympathy Card

The New Occasions Mini is Live!
Okay, it's been live for over a week now, but it's end of semester time and that means I'm digging my way out from under the piles of marking that I didn't do over my Christmas break! I did find some time this week to make a quick sympathy card for a co-worker using some of my new goodies. I also have some projects that I made as Christmas gifts to post later this week.

Ink & Cardstock: Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Early Espresso, Blushing Bride,

Accessories: New Hearts Framelits Dies (these are so much fun to play with - you can see exactly where you're cutting), Framed Tulips Embossing Folder

The Sounding Joy: Sliding Gift Card Holder

My 11 year old daughter came up with the inspiration for this slider card. I'll post a tutorial later this week showing you how I adapted it for my Christmas cards this year. This one conceals a Gift Card. Pull the panel and the front piece slides unveiling the gift card underneath.
