Mother's Day Card & Gift Bag

I confess that I didn't love Bermuda Bay when it was part of the past in-color collection, and I didn't love Calypso Coral when it first came out, but I started playing with them together and I am now loving both colours! This set came about after I came home from a recent shopping trip with yet another bag from David's Tea. They look so much like gift bags, and I am a packrat by nature, so I hated to toss them into the recycle bin. This time I noticed that the bag was a very close match to Bermuda Bay, which is making a comeback with the new catalogue in June. I pulled a piece of cardstock and discovered they're an exact match! I covered the logo and created a card to match and voila - a perfect Mother's Day gift ensemble!

I also decided to play around with my Creped Filter Paper. Here's how to create the flowers:

  • Punch 4-5 flowers from the Blossom Punch
  • Colour the edges with a marker. I used Calypso Coral
  • Spray each until the colour starts to run and set aside to dry.
  • Stack the flowers and poke a brade through the centre.
  • Crumple the flowers and position petals into place.
To create the rhinestone brad I simply added rhinestones to a (retired) 5/8" brad - which are still available on the Clearance Rack.

Napkin Fold Card

I know that Valentine's Day is over, but I actually made this as a birthday card. I used the Napkin Fold technique (a simple google search will turn up dozens of tutorials). I alos had fun playing with my flower trim - possibly my favourite item in the current mini catalogue.

Paper: More Amore DSP (129309), Very Vanilla, Basic Gray, Pool Party

Accessories: Hearts a Flutter Bundle (131098W/131097C), Flower Trim (126869), Scallop Square Die, Sycamore Street Button Bundle

My Little Valentine Album

I created this album using the "My Little Valentine" Stamps and the included "Sealed with Love" Simply Sent Kit. Some of the pages are made from the envelopes which can be removed from the album and opened up.

The cover is made from the chipboard that was included in the kit and covered with DSP from the Sycamore Street Sale-a-bration paper pack. The buttons and ribbon are also from the Sycamore Street Collection. I also made use of the "Hearts a Flutter" Bundle for this project.

I saw another album made using this method of binding, which allows the pages to be easily removed from the album. I used the inside printed "notes" as tags to slip into these pockets along with the envelopes.

The last page of the album contains an envelope that flips open to contain more photos and journaling. The entire album can hold more than a dozen photos and has plenty of room for journaling. Now that Valentine's Day is over, I guess I should get to work filling it! Maybe if I start now, it will be ready for gift giving next year!

Even after filling the entire album, I still had pieces left from the kit. I created three more note cards using my leftover scraps to go in the leftover envelopes. Who knew that a simple little kit could go so far?
